The past few years have proven not to be much of a breeze for companies working within New South Wales’ building sectors, but for Sydney-based construction firm Pimas Gale Construction, business has continued to grow steadily, thanks to its ability to mix experience, innovation and client commitment.

When two successful and long-established building companies, Pimas Group and Gale Building, merged in 1999 the result was the formation of New South Wales building firm Pimas Gale Construction.

Since its inception, Pimas Gale has built a strong reputation for the construction of architecturally-designed homes and luxury apartments.

Last year the company won the Master Builders Australia 2011 National Award for Renovation (over A$400,000) for its project at Point Piper and the HIA 2011 Custom Built Home (over $2 million) for its Hunters Hill project.

Managing director Terry Gale says: “A stringent quality assurance regime, occupational health and safety and environmental policies further enhance our ethos in their pursuit of perfection in every project we have undertaken.”
As it has grown, Pimas Gale has built up a portfolio of successful construction projects and its diverse team of professionals have been involved in the delivery of cutting-edge residential developments, putting it at the forefront of the New South Wales’ crowded construction market.

“Regardless of project size, we provide our clients with a dedicated team led by a director, to ensure the best results through all stages of every project,” says Gale.

“Pimas Gale’s commitment in creating a positive unique construction experience for every owner has, over the years, secured a large portfolio of exclusive prestige harbour residential dwellings providing repeat business and recommendations from satisfied owners,” he adds.

“The success of our projects is the recognition and ability to detail and plan early, being proactive in the project needs and embracing flexibility in accommodating clients’ changing requirements in partnership with the architect’s intent.”

Quality control

From its base in the Sydney suburb of Artarmon, Pimas Gale ensures that it is focused on working closely with both clients and architects in delivering its construction projects, as it recognises their roles in the delivery of a project.

“Pimas Gale’s management systems for the control of quality, time and cost are founded on 40 years of experience within the building industry,” notes Gale.

The company’s motto, ‘Quality Through Team Work’, is extended by a core philosophy—as stated on its website—“to be ethical, professional and to construct our projects to the highest possible standard”.

The company’s forebears—Pimas Group Pty Limited (incorporated in 1979 by Alf Barbara) and Gale Building Pty Limited (incorporated in 1980 by Terry Gale)—were, at the time of their merger, well established businesses with strong reputations for building award-winning luxury custom-designed homes and luxury medium-density residential developments.

“The synergy, as the result of the merger, brought a team of architects, builders—and a few years’ later with the introduction of engineers—new elements to the company,” says Gale.

Today, Pimas Gale’s qualified builders and engineers employ innovative techniques and utilise the latest in construction technology to ensure each of the company’s projects are professionally delivered and exceed the expectations of its clients.

“Our most frequently requested service is to build award-winning individual custom-build homes or build award-winning residential developments and market the developments as ‘built by Pimas Gale Construction’,” says Gale.

With a global economic recession playing havoc to most construction sectors across Australia, the company has had to successfully adapt to changes in customer demand and to the way it operates.

“The residential sector has become conscious of the cost of energy-efficient requirements to improve suitable outcomes,” says Gale. “Pimas Gale, with its diverse team, provides a focus on alternative building materials, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems with low maintenance regime without compromising the design intent in partnership with client and client’s architects.”

Progressive foundations

Over the past three years, Pimas Gale has been able to successfully deal with the economic downturn by developing a collaborative contact model specific to value for money, Gale notes.

“This is delivered back to the client by sharing responsibility, risk and gain in achieving value for monies invested by the residential development,” he notes.

In the last five years the company has employed an average of 30 direct employees and is able to boast of an average turnover of $25 million.

With a successful and eventful history behind it, Pimas Gale is now moving forward in a positive manner.
“Pimas Gale Construction Pty Ltd has over the last 12 years developed a steady growth within the Sydney metropolitan area and will continue to focus on the area,” says Gale.

Over the next five years, Gale says that the firm will look to maintain progress by ensuring it meets the targets of an ever-changing mandate within a fast-paced marketplace.

“We will remain focused on the changes in client demands, maintain steady controlled growth and enhance Pimas Gale’s brand name and reputation by synonymising it with the luxury water front homes,” says Gale.

Success within the construction sector often brings new tests, but with a strong track record and plenty of work on the cards, Pimas Gale already looks primed to meet the next set of challenges it faces.
